Willkommen bei der Hanne Darboven Stiftung
Hanne Darboven hat die nach ihr benannte Stiftung im Jahr 2000 gegründet. Sitz der Stiftung ist Hamburg. Die Werke Hanne Darbovens nehmen in der Kunst der Gegenwart national und international eine herausragende Stellung ein. Hanne Darbovens anspruchsvolles Werk lässt sich mit herkömmlichen Begriffen näherungsweise als künstlerisches Schreibwerk, als bildende Kunst und als minimalistische musikalische Kompositionsarbeit bezeichnen. Anliegen der Stiftung ist es, dieses mannigfache Schaffen zu bewahren und der interessierten Öffentlichkeit zugänglich zu machen. Die Hanne Darboven Stiftung engagiert sich auch darüber hinaus für zeitgenössische Kunst. Ausgehend von dem Beitrag, den Hanne Darboven zur Kunst des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts geleistet hat, unterstützt sie junge Nachwuchskünstler.

Radical Software considers the influence of computer science and the adoption of its technologies by female artists working before the internet was publicly accessible. Presenting the work of over thirty artists, it spans a diverse range of mediums from early computer drawings made in the 1960s and some of the first examples of computer-generated images in experimental films from the 1970s to the application of home computing technology in video, sculpture and installation work from the 1980s. A principally analogue exhibition about digital art, it focuses on the decades that preceded the rise of the world wide web and the proliferation of digital information and images that ensued, shaping artistic production in the following decades.

In Their Time. Traces With Weight, Kunstmuseum Bremerhaven, November 5, 2023–September 14, 2024
The present is not only the here and now, but also includes the past through memory and the future through expectation. The present is therefore a space in which we understand where we have come from and project where we want to go. Present, past and future are thus intertwined. Just as the past can only be regarded from a present and the view into the future is merely a current perspective unfolding before the experiential horizon of the past, everything that occurs in the present is related to a before and after.
Hanne Darboven – Welttheater, Herbert Stiftung, Loods, Gent

The oeuvre of Hanne Darboven (1941 – 2009) includes numerous series of framed paper sheets which she inscribed with numbers, signs, and words. By devising her own system to calculate dates and calendars, Darboven researches the many facets of the concept of ‘time’. Although her work looks abstract, it operates on both a personal and a worldly scale. Hanne Darboven’s visual language, which develops from the act of calculating and writing, contains references to historical events and events in her own life, and reveals her literary and social interests. The works take on different forms: they are brought together on the wall or translated into editions and publications. The exhibition Hanne Darboven – Welttheater presents a series of key works, including Querschnitt – 74 – 365 à 42 (1974), Welttheater (1979) and Hommage an meinen Vater (1988).
The exhibition is part of a series of focus presentations where works and documents form the basis to elaborate further on the multifaceted oeuvres of the artists in the collection of Annick and Anton Herbert.
Remix. Die Sammlung neu sehen
Sammlungspräsentation, Kunsthalle Bremen, seit 2020
Unter dem Titel „Remix. Die Sammlung neu sehen“ präsentiert die Kunsthalle Bremen die Sammlung seit Sommer 2020 grundlegend neu. Durch mutige Wandfarben, eine aufwendige Installation und ein völlig neues Arrangement der Werke bieten sich überraschende neue ästhetische Erfahrungen. Umfassende Vermittlungstexte zu sämtlichen Werken liefern Informationen, die teilweise aktuell recherchiert wurden. Einzelne Werke waren seit Jahrzehnten nicht mehr zu sehen. Hinzu kommen aktuelle Ankäufe, Schenkungen und Dauerleihgaben, die nun erstmals präsentiert werden. Die Kunst nach 1945 hat eine deutlich größere Präsenz.
